WayTrove Trip Memories: replaying a 2.7-mile walk in San Francisco

What is WayTrove?

WayTrove is an iPhone app that keeps track of where you’ve been. Places you haven’t been are covered in fog, and the streets you walk clear it. It counts the countries, states and counties you’ve visited and keeps your trip photos and videos along the route.

FAQ

Do I have to keep the app open while it records?

No. Set location access to “Always” and it keeps recording with the screen locked or while you use other apps.

Why does it need “Always” location access?

So it can record your route while it runs in the background. It only uses location in the background while Everyday Fog Clearing is on or a trip is recording.

Does it use a lot of battery?

With Everyday Fog Clearing on, the app records your footprints in the background, which uses more battery. Turn it off when you don’t need it, or use Pause for 1 Hour. Trips only record after you tap Start Trip.

Do I need an account?

No. WayTrove has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your routes and photos stay on your device.

Is there a subscription?

No. WayTrove is a paid download with no subscription and no in-app purchases.

Will I lose my data when I get a new device?

Not if you back up first. Back up to iCloud or Google Drive on the old device, then install WayTrove on the new one and restore.

Can I import older routes?

Yes. GPX and KML files are supported, and imported routes count toward the Footprint Map.

Is there an Android version?

An Android version is coming soon to Google Play.

Who do I contact with questions?

Email support@waytrove.world.
